As the holidays are approaching, so is the cooler weather. Let’s face it, the colder weather makes it harder to leave the comfort of our own home because all we really want to do is curl up under the covers and watch a movie. Staying active in winter can be difficult, but you should make sure that you exercise and see your chiropractor regularly. Here are our suggestions for keeping fit and healthy throughout the holiday season.
Start a Challenge
The holidays are a difficult time to stay active, but starting a challenge to motivate yourself can keep you active during the cold months. A 30-day challenge involving planks and squats that gradually builds strength is an excellent example. You can often do these at home, and they don't require any gym equipment.
Online Workouts
The internet offers a variety of exercise videos that you can try, such as yoga classes, full-body, abs circuits, and cardio. All you need is to clear out a little space in your living room and grab a bottle of water. This is a great way of staying active in winter if you don't enjoy traveling to the gym.
Take the Stairs
Though the elevator is almost always an easier option, during the winter months if you don't regularly exercise, taking the stairs can be a great way to get your heart pumping. Running or walking up and down your stairs is a great leg and cardio exercise if you have access to a safe and sturdy flight of stairs. Try Tabata style workouts such as sprinting up the stairs for 15 seconds and then walking back down to restart.
