Chiropractic and Your Hip Pain
Chiropractic Care
We frequently treat patients suffering from hip pain. If fall into that category, your pain can be from many different things. Chiropractic can certainly help, but so can an awareness of what is causing your pain. Here is what you need to know:
SPRAINS, STRAINS, AND FRACTURES
Sprains in the ligaments surround your joints, strains on the muscles surrounding your low back, and fractures in your leg bones are often causes of hip pain. Another likely cause are sprains and strains to your knees, ankles, and low back.
UNEVEN LEGS
You may have heard someone say one of their legs is longer than the other. This is usually not the case, but misalignments can lead to one leg functioning as though it is shorter than the other. Such misalignments lead to to hip pain among other pain, which we can easily correct with chiropractic care.
SACROILIAC JOINT DYSFUNCTION
The sacroiliac joint, which is located at the base of the spine, is where your sacrum and pelvis meet. This joint is crucial to your spine's alignment, and if misaligned, it can lead to severe hip and low back pain.
OSTEOARTHRITIS
Osteoarthritis usually shows itself through joint pain. It is a direct result of the wear done to your body over time. Those that struggle with weight issues are typically more prone to osteoarthritis due to increased stressed on their joints.
PAIN RELIEF STEROIDS
There are a wide variety of steroids available that are recommended for long-term pain relief, but an unfortunate side effect can be degeneration of the joints. Steroids can also reduce your body's ability to absorb calcium, which leads to an increased risk of osteoporosis.
You probably noticed something most of these hip pain causes have in common: they can almost all be corrected with chiropractic care! If you have hip pain, no matter what is causing it, schedule an appointment with us. We'll help you find a solution!
